This kind of “Free Speech Zone™” bullshit pretty much proves the point her sign was trying to make. Just sad.

Everyone goes through this from time to time, I’m sure. I’m just not feeling like a bird these days. Part of it is because I’m exiled on a resort island where I’m fronting a 2-man cover act 5 days a week. The atmosphere here is touristy, beach-volleyball, 1980’s jock-flick-tastic, and here I am… a Furry geek-rocker.

To say the least, I feel out of place all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun and it’s paying off a lot of credit debt, but I just don’t feel like a bird when I’m out here. All I can do is stare at the Great Egrets, Osprey, and other actual birds and sigh wistfully. Come September I’ll be out of here, and I’ll be back to my usual broke self again.

Hopefully I’ll be a bit more feathery by then.

Happy birthday, America.

(Psst… can we just start letting the stupid people kill themselves now? It’ll help solve that pesky “social security” problem later.)

I didn’t get much from Day 2… in fact, I got damn near nothing at all. But I got that damn near nothing on video!

I have decided that, though my existing bird suit is unique and fun, I want to try making my own. So the first step is making a duct-tape dummy, but I was told I’d pretty much be ruining a set of clothing in order to do it.

Why? For $10 or less you can buy a painter’s jumpsuit from the hardware store and make the job even easier. My friends Zschamm and Darius and I bought some tape and a suit and away we went.

So here’s how we started out- first by taping the suit taut against my skinny body. Gotta make sure the crotch isn’t sagging down and the sides aren’t billowing out.

Of course, that’s just the beginning…

I love how he actually uses some of the lyrics and the song’s timing to line up some key photos and video. Great stuff! I think I ought to post my FWA and Megaplex videos, um, eventually.

Megaplex 2008 is over now and as I sit here in the Jacksonville airport I’m already missing a lot of the folks I’ve met.

I’ll go into a lot more detail later, I hope, but I’m ready to just get on a big metal bird and get home and get some sleep.

Personally, I think it’s brilliant despite the obvious rental mascot costumes. It’s funny, it makes the pompous human look like the idiot, they go out of their way to emphasize that Furry is not a kink or fetish, and most importantly… there are a ton of birds walking around on camera!

That’s right, four-leggers, we’re taking over.
